The driver of a BMW was airlifted to a hospital after his car collided with a big rig near Selma.

A California Highway Patrol spokesman said the BMW was eastbound on Mountain View Avenue, east of Mendocino Avenue, when it drifted into the westbound lane, collided with the rear wheels of the tractor-trailer and crashed into an orchard.

The driver, who had to be freed from the car, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

There were no other injuries from the collision. The CHP closed Mountain View Avenue in both directions.
