Boy killed in 2-vehicle crash east of Reedley

The Fresno BeeMay 4, 2014

A boy was killed Sunday afternoon when a pickup failed to stop at a four-way stop east of Reedley and hit a Honda Civic that was turning left, the California Highway Patrol said.

Sgt. Joseph Bianchi said the collision happened shortly after 4 p.m. at Alta Avenue and East Dinuba Avenue.

The child was identified Monday as Miguel Perez Jr., 10.

The Honda Civic that was heading north on Alta Avenue stopped at the intersection with Dinuba Avenue, then began turning left. A pickup heading south on Alta drove through the stop sign and hit the Civic on the passenger side, Bianchi said.

Three other occupants of the two vehicles were also hurt -- none with life-threatening injuries -- and were taken to nearby hospitals, Bianchi said.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
