Big rig crash on Interstate 5 at Kettleman City snarls traffic

The Fresno BeeMay 4, 2014

A tractor trailer carrying water overturned on northbound Interstate 5 near Kettleman City about 7 a.m. Sunday, backing up traffic for most of the day.

The accident happened on the interstate just north of Milham Avenue. Traffic was backed up for at least six miles, south of the Highway 41 offramp at Kettleman City, as crews worked to unload the tractor trailer and upright the rig so it could be removed from the road.

The California Highway Patrol did not expect the scene to be cleared until 5 p.m. Sunday.
