A 78-year-old Mariposa man with Alzheimer’s disease who vanished earlier this week has been found, a Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said.

Karl Sehmsdorf had been missing since Tuesday night. He was found by search and rescue personnel before 11 a.m. Friday on a mountainside in Mariposa County. He was hoisted off the mountain by medics and taken to a Valley hospital, sheriff's spokeswoman Kristie Mitchell said. Sehmsdorf’s condition was not known Friday afternoon.

Before his rescue, Sehmsdorf was last seen Tuesday night walking southbound on Highway 49, between Watt and Kimble roads north of Oakhurst and east of Bootjack.
