Visalia hosts Earth Day events

Earth Day happenings will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Visalia at the St. John's Riverwalk, at the St. John's River and Ben Maddox Way.

The city-sponsored event will focus on water conservation, including alternatives to landscape irrigation that accounts for 60% of water use in the city. A tour of the city's low-water use garden is planned.

A bird watching tour begins at 7:45 a.m.
