The Mexican Consulate in Fresno will open its Kids Activities Area on Wednesday in commemoration of Children's Day, which is celebrated every April 30 in Latin-American countries.

The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and feature readings to children and folkloric dancing by elementary and high school students.

Fresno Unified School District donated toward the new facilities that will include learning activities and books and toys for children to use while their parents complete their consular affairs.

The consulate is at 7435 N. Ingram Ave. in northwest Fresno and is open to the public.
