Fresno VA seeks veterans to tackle mental health issues

The Fresno BeeApril 28, 2014

Veterans Affairs Central California Healthcare System will host “Making the Connections” Tuesday to build relationships between veterans and the Fresno Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The event will bring together community partners to enhance access to mental health services and address the VA mental healthcare needs for veterans and their families.

The event is a follow up to last year’s Mental Health Summit where participants completed surveys regarding potential improvements and education for accessing VA health care services. This year’s event will develop a group of VA staff and community partners to eliminate barriers of communications indicated by the surveys.

The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8900, 3538 N. Blythe Ave. in Fresno.

The reporter can be reached at (559) 441-6679 or bvaccari@fresnobee.com.
