A vacant home in central Fresno was damaged by fire Monday evening, the Fresno Fire Department reported.
When firefighters arrived at the 1800 block of North Adoline Avenue shortly after 5:30 p.m., they found heavy smoke coming from the front and rear of the home, said Keola Park, a Fresno Fire spokesman.
The fire was isolated mostly to the kitchen and living room, and crews were able to put it out quickly, he said.
The entire home received smoke damage, but only the kitchen and living room were damaged by fire.
The fire began in the kitchen, but Park couldn't give an exact cause. Though firefighters have responded recently to numerous fires in vacant homes caused by squatters, Park said there was no evidence that squatters were involved this time.
The fire is still under investigation.
