David White's Three-Point Stance: Pacers need George the Great

1. Former Fresno State star Paul George has been really, really good; that's how his Pacers earned the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. For it to matter, George has got to be really, really great — like he was with 18 of 24 points in the second half of Indiana's 91-88 win over Atlanta in Game 4 on Saturday. Time to be more than an in-season All-Star.

2. Former Duke quarterback Brandon Connette committed to Fresno State this past week — as in long after spring practice is over — and coach Tim DeRuyter already declared him starting material. Either Connette is really that good, or the spring quarterbacks really aren't. Are they sure Derek Carr can't find another year of eligibility?

3. So, Bulldog Diamond finally is being named after Hall of Fame softball coach Margie Wright. Really wishing they had a second baseball stadium, so they would do the same for former baseball coach Bob Bennett …
