Mehas to get posthumous honorary degree from Fresno State

The Fresno BeeApril 22, 2014

Longtime Valley education and civic leader Peter Mehas, who died unexpectedly in September, will be awarded an honorary doctorate degree posthumously at Fresno State's commencement ceremony in May.

University officials say Fresno State President Joseph Castro will present the degree to Mehas' widow, Demi Mehas, at the graduation event on May 17.

Mehas, a four-term Fresno County superintendent of schools and California State University trustee, died Sept. 27. He's already received a posthumous award from the CSU board, which honored him as a trustee emeritus.
