Man rescued after being swept away in Kaweah River

A man swept away in the current of Kaweah River on Saturday in Three Rivers was rescued by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office search and rescue team.

Deputies received a call for help shortly before 8 p.m. Edgar Macias was swept into the river near the Slick Rock boat ramp, where the river becomes Lake Kaweah on its eastern edge, west of Sequoia National Park.

Macias was not injured, but was stranded on the river's north side, where he was rescued.
