Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central Valley on Saturday were performing community service projects in conjunction with the annual Mormon Helping Hands Day of Service happening statewide.

Valley LDS members cleaned up the Fancher Creek Trail, made improvements to the recreation area at Avocado Lake and painted a wooden fence along the Armstrong Avenue greenway in Clovis from Shaw to Bullard avenues.

At Avocado Lake they painted bathrooms as well as guard rails, and poured concrete pads for picnic tables and BBQ pits.

The Fresno Bee is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news.
