Caltrans to honor fallen workers in Fresno Thursday

The California Department of Transportation will hold a memorial ceremony Thursday at the Caltrans office in Fresno for the 182 workers who have lost their lives on the job.

The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. at 1352 W. Olive Ave.

The ceremony will features 182 orange safety cones to represent each fallen worker. The District 6 Honor Guard will perform a special tribute for those workers. There will be speakers from Caltrans as well as Capt. Dave Paris from the California Highway Patrol.

Caltrans cited impaired, reckless and inattentive drivers in the work zone areas as the main cause for the death of Caltrans workers.
