CALIFORNIA LOTTERY

Isaias Herrera used money from his swear jar to buy a lottery scratcher at a Riverdale gas station that won $1 million.

The Riverdale man told the California Lottery his wife usually buys the family's scratchers because he "usually doesn't have luck when playing the scratchers tickets-- until this win."

He decided to use his habit-breaking funds on a $10 Black Exclusive scratcher after seeing a TV commercial for it. The ticket was bought at Texaco Star Mart on West Mt. Whitney Avenue.

Herrera, who is unemployed, plans to invest his winnings.
