A Fresno doctor who had been suspended from practicing medicine last year has surrendered his license, the Medical Board of California reported Wednesday.

Dr. Jose Luis Flores surrendered his license, which was accepted by the board.

Flores, a pain management doctor, did not contest allegations filed in a Jan. 28 amended accusation by the board, which accused Flores of excessive use of alcohol and controlled substances that impaired his ability to practice medicine.

The board also accused Flores of prescribing dangerous drugs without appropriately examining patients, failing to maintain adequate and accurate medical records and excessively prescribing controlled substances and dangerous drugs.
