Fresno mobile home park residents get new smoke alarms

The Fresno BeeApril 16, 2014

The Fresno Fire Department donated and installed smoke alarms at the Midstate Mobile Manor on Tuesday.

Members from the department's Community Risk Reduction Unit partnered with a youth group program from the People's Church for the installations.

About 95 homes were given smoke alarms or received new batteries for an existing alarm.

In addition to the installations, the department also provided fire safety tips and handed out goodies to over 150 children who live in the park.

Roughly two-thirds of home fire deaths happen in houses with no smoke alarms or nonworking smoke alarms.
