Fresno Pacific commencement to be held at Chukchansi Park

Fresno Pacific University is moving its spring commencement ceremonies from its usual campus setting to Chukchansi Park in downtown Fresno.

The May 10 ceremony will begin at 7 p.m.

The school says the ceremony's move to Chukchansi Park will allow for easy parking and comfortable seating arrangements while also giving graduates the opportunity to invite as many guests as they want.

The university expects 6,000-7,000 attendees to watch an estimated 339 students graduate. These graduates include about 188 from the traditional undergraduate program, 58 from the bachelor's degree program and 93 from graduate programs, including 20 from the Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary.

The featured speaker will be community activist and author Randy White, executive director of the university's Center for Community Transformation. His books include "The Work of Our Hands" and "Encounter God in the City."
