Tulare County sheriff to honor Woodville brothers

The Fresno BeeApril 10, 2014

The Tulare County Sheriff's Department will present its first two STAR Awards at the Porterville Substation on Friday.

The event will start at 8 a.m. to honor two brothers, Robert and Ernest Sauceda of the Tulare County town of Woodville, west of Porterville, for assisting a deputy in a physical confrontation with a male suspect in November 2013.

The Sauceda brothers were nearby and came to the aid of the deputy by securing the suspect's arms and legs so he could be handcuffed.

The Sheriff of Tulare County Action Recognition (STAR) Award was created to recognize and thank men and women who go above and beyond to assist sheriff's officials without obligation.
