Nine families to get new homes in Fresno County

The Fresno BeeApril 4, 2014

Habitat for Humanity Fresno County will inform nine families they have been selected as new homeowners in southeast Fresno on Saturday.

The families will be shown the lots they will occupy and have an opportunity to meet their future neighbors. The nine contiguous in-fill lots are located in Hope Village at Laval and Belgravia Avenues, each suitable for three to five bedroom homes.

Habitat for Humanity said the project is expected to have a positive impact on the community by offering affordable housing in a neighborhood burdened with poverty.

Each family was selected from applicants who have shown sufficient need for the housing and the ability to pay for their new homes through Habitat for Humanity's zero-interest loans.

The Community Housing Development Organization provided $845,000 in funding to make this project possible.
