The Madera County Sheriff's Office will host its third annual Take Back Drugs event at two drop-off locations on April 26, providing citizens and professional organizations an opportunity to turn in unwanted prescription and nonprescription drugs.
"Our goal is to collect all unused, unwanted or expired medications and destroy them in a nonhazardous manner," said Sheriff John Anderson.
Anderson said the free service is offered so people can turn in drugs at a safe and secure location. At the last Take Back Drugs event, which is hosted twice a year, the Madera County Sheriff's Office collected 250 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs.
The two locations will be the sheriff's main office at 14143 Road 28 in Madera, and the Madera County Sheriff's Office substation in Oakhurst at 48267 Liberty Drive. The drop-offs will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
