The Fresno County Public Library's 14th annual Poetry Contest runs through April in celebration of National Poetry Month.

First-, second- and third-place winners will be awarded with gift card prizes ranging from $25 to $100.

All poems will be judged by local authors and poets and an awards ceremony will be held May 31 at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 2 p.m.

The event will be hosted by Fresno Poet Laureate James Tyner.

Poets in grades 3-12, college students from ages 18-24, and adults ages 18 and up are invited to submit their poems at www.fresnolibrarypoetry.org.

The Fresno Bee is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
