Engineering schools from across California, Nevada, Canada and China came together at Fresno State for the annual Mid-Pacific Conference, with competition in events such as concrete canoe, steel bridge, water treatment, transportation engineering and geo-wall building. The students pictured here are testing a scale retaining wall made of paper and packaging tape to see if it can hold back hundreds of pounds of backfill sand held within a plywood box.
