An 80-year-old Caruthers man walking his dog was identified as the person who died in a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Tuesday.
The pedestrian had followed his unleashed dog into the roadway and was struck at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday as he was walking at the intersection of Kamm and Cornelia avenues.
Miguel Pena, 25, of Fresno, struck the pedestrian when he was not able to apply his brakes soon enough to keep from hitting him.
The California Highway Patrol said the pedestrian had not seen Pena's car when he crossed the street.
The pedestrian was flown to Community Regional Medical Center where he later died. His name is not being released pending notification of his family.
