The superintendent for Sanger Unified School District has been named to a state committee on special education.
Gov. Jerry Brown announced Matthew Navo's appointment Tuesday.
Navo, 43, will serve a four-year term as member of the committee, which advises state lawmakers and the state Department of Education on issues related to special education. The position doesn't carry a stipend or salary.
Navo has served as superintendent in Sanger since 2013. Before that, he worked in several administrative roles and as a faculty member at Fresno State. He worked as a special education teacher in Clovis Unified in the 1990s.
