A 74-year-old Woodlake man died Wednesday in a collision near Woodlake, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash took place about 6:30 a.m. as Joe Garcia, 50, of Woodlake was northbound on Highway 245 in a pickup north of Avenue 352.

The CHP said he reached for a cup of coffee and drifted into the southbound lane, where he collided with the front of the victim's southbound Lincoln Town Car.

The Lincoln spun and struck a fence. Garcia's pickup rolled. Both drivers were taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center. Garcia sustained moderate injuries, but the other driver died. His identity was being withheld until family could be notified.

The crash is under investigation.
