Fresno's University High student to attend renowned music camp

A University High School student musician has been accepted to attend Interlochen Arts Camp, a world premier arts program for aspiring artists.

Joseph Syverson, 17, will study the viola and orchestral arts at the camp, located in northwest Michigan, from June to August.

Syverson has performed professionally in the Tulare County Symphony Orchestra and was a part of the Fresno Youth Philharmonic, YMCA music camp at Sequoia Lake and the Sierra Academy of Music in Mammoth Lakes.

Interlochen Arts Camp attracts faculty and students from all 50 states and from more than 40 countries. Camp alumni include Norah Jones, Josh Groban and members of the band OK Go.
