Mountain Biking: Big Sandy's back for seventh running Sunday

The Big Sandy Point to Point Mountain Bike Race is set to launch for the seventh time Sunday.

The event features three divisions:

• The Pro, Singlespeed and Expert division -- 38 miles of single track with 6,000-feet in climbing -- kicks the event off at 8:30 a.m., starting at Fine Gold Bay.

• The Sport, Beginning, Vintage and Clydesdale division -- 15 miles of single track with 2,400 feet of climbing -- begins at 10:30 from the San Joaquin Gorge.

• The Sport Long Course and Singlespeed -- a 23-mile single track race with 3,500 feet of climbing -- starts at 10:40 a.m.

There were 155 entrants last year, with riders coming from the Central Coast and Sacramento to compete in a race that concludes at Millerton Lake.
