Prescribed burn set today in Kings Canyon National Park

The Fresno BeeMarch 18, 2014

Cedar Grove fire crews plan to ignite the Valley Floor prescribed fire unit in Kings Canyon National Park today.
The project is 45 acres in size, and ignitions are expected to be completed Wednesday.
The prescribed burn will occur about two months earlier than normal because of drought conditions and above average temperatures.
Cedar Grove is still closed for the season, so smoke impacts will be minimal as the valley is unoccupied and not open to visitors.

Smoke from this burn is not expected to leave Cedar Grove.
