Delicious soups were served up Thursday at the inaugural Soup Challenge held at Golden LivingCenter in Fresno.

A partnership between the Golden LivingCenter and the Institute of Technology Culinary Department, located at Clovis West High School, the event featured 8 soups and three judges with winners and runners-up announced at the end.

The event was designed to focus on the food offered to residents at Golden LivingCenter and coincides with National Nutrition Month.

The winner of the competition was Jasmine Ruiz from Clovis West High School with her Zuppa Toscana soup featuring Italian sausage, bacon, chicken stock, russet potatoes, garlic, red pepper flakes, onion, kale and heavy cream.

The Institute of Technology Culinary Department at Clovis West brings together students from Clovis, Clovis East, Clovis West, Clovis North and Buchanan High Schools for training.
