A Clovis woman sustained major injuries early Tuesday in a one-car crash on Highway 99 in northwest Fresno, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP said Melissa Anaya, 25, of Clovis was northbound near Ashlan Avenue when she drove off the highway, hit a metal guardrail and slammed into a tree.

Anaya was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, the CHP said.
