Sanger police investigative explosive wounds on man

Sanger police are investigating what happened to a man who was found Sunday with injuries to his face and hand that appeared to be from an explosive device.

Sanger police initially were called just before 11 a.m. to the 200 block of Academy Avenue for a report of a man who had been shot or stabbed, said Cpl. Brandon Coles.

When police arrived, they determined there had been no stabbing or shooting, but they did find a man in his 30s with injuries to his face and hand, Coles said.

Police canvassed the area but did not find anything that resembled an explosive device, he said. The man was not cooperative.

"We're still kind of baffled as far as what actually happened. He's not wanting to tell us very much," Coles said.

The man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno where he was reported in stable condition.
