Porterville man, 95, killed in crash

— A 95-year-old Porterville man was killed Thursday in a single-vehicle accident in Porterville.

Porterville police said the man was driving on Highway 65, south of Highway 190, when he crashed. A witness reported seeing the vehicle veer off the west side of the highway, into an nearby orange grove. The vehicle rolled over and the man -- the only person in the vehicle -- died at the scene, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Major Accident Investigation Team of the Porterville Police Department. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to call Sgt. Carrillo or officer Yates at (559) 782-7400.
