Lisa Bertolino named Tulare County public defender

Lisa Bertolino, Tulare County's interim public defender, was appointed to permanently fill the position, the Tulare County Board of Supervisors announced Wednesday.

Bertolino was appointed interim public defender in December. She has served as the county's assistant public defender since 2003 and has been with Tulare County since 1989.

Bertolino has a law degree from the Ventura College of Law and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Humboldt State University.

Bertolino will make $162,000 a year. Her appointment is effective next week.
