The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle early Saturday morning in southeast Fresno has been identified as Seng Cho Saeteurn, of Fresno, the Fresno County Coroner's Office said Sunday.

Saeteurn's age was first reported by police as 82, but the coroner's office confirmed Saeteurn was 81.

Fresno Police Lt. Joe Gomez said officers were sent to southbound Chestnut Avenue at Balch Avenue, where they found Saeteurn lying in the roadway shortly before 6 a.m. They learned that he walked in front of a vehicle and the driver could not stop in time.

Gomez said Saeteurn lived just a few blocks from where the accident happened.

The driver was not cited for any violations and the department's Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the death.
