A murder suspect who was wanted for killing a man and shooting his son last month was arrested Wednesday after a standoff with a police SWAT team in northeast Fresno.
Officers found Jessie Aguilar, 39, of Fresno, hiding in a motel room Wednesday evening at the Summerfield Inn, near Sierra and Blackstone Avenues. After an hour of talking with the suspect, officers threw a flash bang near the room, resulting in his surrender, Fresno police said.
Aguilar faces charges in the murder of Frank Zapata Sr., 59, and attempted murder of Frank Zapata Jr., who were killed Jan. 1. Officers said the shooting was gang-related.
