Tulare County is withdrawing from the Tulare County Economic Development Corporation beginning July 1.
The Tulare County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 on Tuesday to end its annual $79,200 contribution to the organization, whose mission is to bring new businesses to the area. Supervisor Pete Vander Poel voted no.
The county has been unhappy with the EDC for several years over shortcomings in performance, Board of Supervisors Chairman Phil Cox said.
He said the county would continue support for the Economic Development Office, a county division focused on business expansion and retention, tourism and a Film Commission.
