I apologize now for a small bit of repetition, but several months back I wrote about the Fulton Mall and bike accessibility. I mentioned how inappropriate and ludicrous the recommendation was to pave the mall so cars could drive up and down the street hunting for parking spaces.
Now it seems Craig Scharton thinks that's the course of action needed to correct the mall's problems. Might I suggest that, if the lack of parking space is the what ails downtown, Craig might consider relocating Peeve's to the Manchester Mall (which by the way has acres of asphalt and lots of unoccupied space inside).
But I fear the decision has already been preordained by the mayor and the absentee property owners. Good luck, Craig, but I for one can't support your way of thinking. The solution requires more thought with a real intent to turn the mall into something all of Fresno can be proud of — a cultural center full of restaurants, theaters, art studios, health centers and shops filled with local goods.
