The Fresno BeeFebruary 25, 2014

A Farmersville woman will stand trial for murder in the death of her newborn found in a trash can.

Danielle Downing, 27, gave birth to a baby girl inside her family home in October 2011, according to police.

The homeowner found the baby in a trash can in front of the home. Downing was arrested several days later. She is now being held without bail.

At a preliminary hearing Monday, Downing was ordered to stand trial for murder and assault on a child causing death. A trial date will be set in March.

If found guilty, Downing faces 25 years to life in prison.
