Documentary, discussion at Sunnyside High to promote mindfulness

The Fresno BeeFebruary 22, 2014

Sunnyside High School's Mindfulness Club will host a screening of the documentary "Room to Breathe" March 7 in the school's theater.

The film illustrates how mindfulness transformed lives of middle school kids in San Francisco and is part of the "Mindful Revolution" covered by Time Magazine. The revolution is based on research that shows mindfulness improves student attention, self-awareness, impulse control and pro-social behaviors.

A question-and-answer session with students who are incorporating the techniques will follow the screening.

Refreshments and a meet and greet begins at 5 p.m. and the screening will begin at 6 p.m. at 1019 S. Peach Ave. in Fresno.

The free event is wheelchair accessible.
