On his Feb. 14 visit to the Fresno area, President Barack Obama promised to address the California drought. I hope he's not just blowing smoke.
I don't know what Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein is proposing, but I like the water bill the Republican-controlled House of Representatives has passed. It would authorize new dams, lengthen irrigation contracts, and repeal a San Joaquin River restoration program.
I believe it makes a lot of sense because California has very few wet years and when it does, water storage is the best solution to deal with the drought. I hope the Democrats jump on the band wagon on this issue.
