MONTCLAIR, Calif. — Southern California utility crews are working to restore service to more than a thousand Montclair residents and businesses affected by concurrent water and gas leaks.
The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin says (http://bit.ly/1jkOXub) Monte Vista Water District crews responded Tuesday afternoon to a water main break in a residential neighborhood.
Several hours later the crews noticed bubbles in the water and smelled the odor of natural gas. It was determined that a gas line had also ruptured.
Water service is expected to return on Saturday.
Gas workers are going door to door on Friday replacing meters, relighting pilot lights and making sure there is no water in the gas lines. They have given no estimate for completion.
Officials are trying to determine what caused the ruptures.
