Tulare youth sports coach arrested on child sex charges

A coach for a girl's youth sports team in the Tulare area has been arrested on charges of lewd acts with a minor.

Tulare police reported Thursday that Denell Johnson, 38, of Tulare was arrested Jan. 29 after officers investigated a disturbance in the 1700 block of West Bane Street.

Johnson was involved in sexual relationships with several minors ranging in age from 13 to 17 years old, police said. He is a registered sex offender and police said there may be other victims.
