Mr. President, you're welcome back any time.
It's no secret we have many problems in Fresno. The drought is the latest in a long line of issues that plague our Valley. Homelessness, inequality, crushing poverty and unemployment are just a few. But one issue, in particular, can be addressed quickly and help solve these other problems.
I couldn't agree more with Darius Assemi's comments in a recent story Feb. 14 in The Bee: Fresno needs more infill housing projects to provide quality affordable alternatives to the wave of out-of-control development that continues sprawl that we can't afford to maintain. Neighborhoods in central, southeast and southwest Fresno are getting older. We need to invest throughout our city.
The General Plan Alternative A called for the very investment that Mr. Assemi praised, limiting future green fields sprawl. Fresno needs a plan that supports a variety of housing options for all income levels, funds infrastructure for neighborhoods that have been left behind and provides safe parks throughout our city.
If we work to complete existing neighborhoods, we will build a healthier community for all Fresnans.
Mr. President, come back soon. We could use your help and leadership.
