Hoover High to host special Olympics basketball tournament

Hoover High School will host a Special Olympics basketball tournament Friday on campus.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school's Event Center, 5550 N. First St. in northeast Fresno.

It will feature 17 teams representing 10 schools. Athletes from Hoover High's varsity boys and girls teams will serve as game officials.

The tournament will offer Division 3 competition with regulation rules, and Division 5 competition with modification to make the games accessible for beginner athletes.
