Tipsy man was carrying stolen handgun, Fresno police say

An intoxicated man was arrested Wednesday night in southeast Fresno after officers found he was carrying a stolen firearm, police reported.

Officers saw the man staggering in the road near Belmont Avenue and First Street and ordered him to stop, police said. He initially ignored commands and when taken into custody, officers found the 9 mm handgun, which had been taken in Madera.

The man was booked into the Fresno County Jail.
