A Fresno man was sentenced to eight years in prison Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, for being a felon in possession of a firearm, U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner said.

Albert Hood, 49, was found guilty by a jury in October of last year after evidence showed that he ran from a police officer who pulled him over for a traffic violation, and dropped a loaded revolver back in 2011.

According to court documents, Hood has additional felony convictions for car theft, domestic violence, and assault with a deadly weapon, Wagner said.
