Notes: Average teacher salaries are often a reflection of three things: An area's cost of living, how much the district is willing to pay and the number of experienced teachers the district employs. After getting your results, click "details" to see all the numbers in context. "FTE" stands for full time equivalent.

Roughly 15 percent of districts -- most of them very small -- did not report 2012-2013 teacher pay data to the state.
