Derek Carr won't throw the football at this weekend's NFL Combine, according to a report by nfl.com.
The former Fresno State star will throw for NFL scouts at Fresno State's Pro Day on March 20, Ian Rapoport reported.
Carr will take part in other drills Sunday at the combine in Indianapolis, according to Rapoport, who added that Carr set that timeline before performing well for scouts during practices leading up to last month's Senior Bowl.
"You want to put up as good of numbers as you can," Carr said in a news release posted Wednesday on gobulldogs.com. "Especially when you hear people talk about me saying you run a five-second 40, so it will be nice to go out there and show them that's not the case at all and show them that we are a little more athletic than they think."
Carr isn't the only top quarterback prospect who won't throw at the combine. Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, also will throw only at his university's pro day.
NFL Media draft analyst Mike Mayock said on a conference call Tuesday Carr fits into the end of the first round.
Meanwhile, here's a video uploaded Feb. 15 by Darren Carr of his brother launching a 73-yard pass.
