College of the Sequoias got a little thunder from the extreme ends of its lineup Tuesday afternoon to make sure Dylan Lee's mound gem was not wasted.
No. 9 hitter Christian Gastelum doubled in the tying run with two out in the eighth and leadoff man Nick Stoll followed with a double of his own to account for the final score in the host Giants' 2-1 victory over Reedley to open Central Valley Conference play.
COS is 7-4 overall; the Tigers fell to 4-6.
Lee (3-0) allowed four hits and two walks and fanned eight in eight innings, but the left-hander had been trailing 1-0 after Josh Montelongo's RBI double — set up by Satchel Goodwin's single and stolen base — in the fourth.
The teams continue their series Thursday in Reedley and Saturday back in Visalia.
