Laid-back singer-songwriter Jason Mraz is stepping off the arena stage and embarking on a quick tour of small, intimate venues where he will play acoustic sets.

Mraz announced the West Coast tour, which kicks off next month in Santa Cruz. It will make a stop March 26 at the Saroyan Theatre in Fresno. The show will feature special guest Raining Jane.

Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at The Saroyan Theatre box office, by phone at (800) 745-3000, or at www.ticketmaster.com. They cost $42.50 and $57.50. Pre-sale tickets are available until 10 p.m. today.

The small venues will be a return of sorts for Mraz, who began his career playing coffee houses in San Diego before finding commercial success with his 2005 album "Mr. A-Z." His single, "I'm Yours," from 2008's "We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things," was a record-breaker, staying on Billboard's Hot 100 for 76 weeks to beat the previous record held by LeAnn Rimes with "How Do I Live."

The Grammy-winning singer is working on a new album for release later this year. He will also play at the "All For The Hall" benefit for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum on March 4.

Mraz played Fresno's Save Mart Center in 2009, opening for the Dave Matthews band.
